Default swap out bearing, or get new one?

I have a DW708 saw with a bad armature. Have ordered/received replacement but seeing the many posts regarding the difficulty of removing the bearing #62, I'm wondering if it makes sense to try to swap out the old bearing or just buy a new one. I'm a carpenter not a mechanic and I don't have any type of bearing press. For that matter, do I need a special tool to install or reinstall the bearing on the armature?

Hi caruha, always replace the armature bearings when the armature is out as AC motors are very hard on bearings. You can find a cheap bearing puller at an auto parts store or bring the armature and bearing to a power tool repair shop and for a small fee the will do it. Even a lawn mower shop will most likely do it for a few dollars. If that bearing fails it can destroy your armature gear and secondary gear reduction so don't take a chance with using the old bearing.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Don't think it matters much but this saw of mine is a Type 4.
