    does the airfilter just snap in?

    Hi cmg,

    The air filter base is held to the tool using the same screws that hold the carb to the engine. Tools that use this base don't have a filter. Ryobi considers the piece of window screen over the air intake opening to be the filter. Not the best design in my opinion...

    I ordered a foam filter for mine because the factory screen is not suitable to keep the dust out. The filter from the link below comes with the part in the picture and also the middle section which fits the model RY28040 perfectely.

    Ebay seller 'mowers4u' has a foam filter that fits perfect in the Model RY28040. It comes with two pieces, use the inner piece.
