Frankly you don't need it. Run without it, the rest of the Gizmo will wear out long before you notice it's absence.. true.

The fuel filter is sold as part of the tank assembly. The tank assembly comes with both fuel lines, the fuel filter and a new tank cap. Many tanks are sold this way due to the difficulty in installing the type of filter that this unit uses. The tank assembly is part #308675002.
