Hitachi C8FB2 Motor Problems
My beloved Hitachi C8FB2 saw had sat dormant in my mother's garage for many years. Moving to a new house, I finally had some room in the garage to clean it up and give it a proper bench to work off of. I ordered new bushings, as well as a new switch from this website. I removed the old bushings, replaced them with the new ones and then replaced the switch. I now have a new problem. When plugged in, the saw makes a humming sounds, similar to an electric "brown out", but it will turn when the switch is activated. I thought I might have goofed on the polarity, but much to my surprise, if I reverse it, the saw runs anytime it is plugged in. I'm guessing the starter capacitor needs replaced, but failing that, I would appreciate any help offered!

Hi, The C8FB2 doesn't have a starter capacitor as it has a gear reduction unit in it and doesn't need one.I do believe you have the wiring hooked up wrong and have it hooked up so as to when the switch is turned on its also activating the motor brake. This is the humming you hear.Call Hitachi and see if they can email you the wiring chart for the tool.Good luck.
