Type 1 versus Type 2

What is the difference between a 1 and 2?

Hello Norm,

It doesn't show it on any of the parts diagrams that I can find. But I know when the 34-670 first came out it had square rails for the fence instead of the round style it uses now, and I think that was the only difference.
