Transmission or something else?
I was using my DC927 last night to drive drywall screws and it stopped turning. Motor runs fine in both directions and the chuck will turn unless you put strain on it (i.e. turning a screw or drilling a hole). Makes an awful grinding noise when you try to use it, but then sounds fine when just running. Is this the transmission or is there something going on in the gears?
I'm new at this so go easy on me. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hi DLD,
There are several issues with this model .
1. popping out of gear.
2. Low gear stripping out leaving you with high gear only.
3. Chuck not tightening or loosing up.
The transmission have a 3 year warranty. You can check your date code by removing the battery and looking for a set of stamped numbers on the bottom which look something like 20XX XX-XX. The first four digits give you the date and the second give you the week of manufacturing.
To repair this tool correctly you should have the 47566-01SV CHUCK & SPINDLE assembly replace as it will also include an improved chuck.Hope this helps .Good luck.
