Tinker, do you know why after replacing armature and spindle and gear the blade vibrates badly on startup, but after up to speed runs true and smooth? also saw is very quiet when you let go of trigger and break comes on. Blades stops as it should. tried different blades, but all do it. Thanks.

Also, where can I purchase the repair manual for dewalt tools?

Hi logman,
If you replaced the armature with the Armature Kit Part Number: 5140021-93 and you know that your blades are good (not missing any teeth)And you are getting vibration off the blade the I would check the pocket bearing that the inner spindle shaft rides in. part# 386780-00 Bearing.
As far as a repair manual for Dewalt tools ,I'm not aware that there is one. The notes I gave you are for ASC only.Hope that helps.Good luck.

Tinker,
I replaced the pocket bearing and blade still vibrates badly on startup. After that it runs great. I have replaced armature, spindle and spindle gear and pocket bearing. I did not have this vibration before replacing these items even with the armature gear being chewed up on the old one. Everything was put back together the way it come apart(no missing screws, etc). Any thoughts?
Thank-you.
Anybody else have any ideas or run into this before?

Hi Logman,
I don't think its in you gear reduction then.Did you replace just the armature or replace the armature with an armature kit? Dewalt changed the back armature bearing and the new armature bearing is smaller then the old.If you stick a updated armature in the old housing then the bearing will be too loose and when the motor starts the armature will not be spinning on the true center of its axes until its at full rpm.At that point it will spin close to the center of it axes as its now held in place by the larger bearing by the gearbox. Check your motor case armature bearing back by the brush assembly.

I replaced the armature, housing and bearing (Kit). In the kit was a small rubber piece that fit into a small hole beside the small bearing in the new housing. There are two holes though. I know only one rubber piece was shipped as I opened the baggy over a clean parts pan to avoid losing anything. Should there have been 2 rubber pieces?
Thanks!

Hi logman,
It should only have one .I'm sorry I couldn't help you but I would have to see the problem to know what causing it to vibrate.Anything else I'd be guessing.
