Hi - I'm new to DIY tool repair/maintenance. Bought this drill at a yard sale, it works great for a while and then it freezes. I think I've narrowed the problem down to the spur gears and gear ring -- I'm going to replace them and see if that does the trick. I'm comfortable taking the gearing apart and putting it back together but the grease on the parts and inside the case is old and nasty. I need a tutorial on how to regrease after I clean the parts and I can't find anything anywhere on how to do this--probably because it's so basic? What can I say--I took Home Ec, not Shop. How much is too much? Where to put it? What kind of grease to use -- please don't be vague, I'm starting from zero knowledge here. Since this is the first time I'm doing this, I'd prefer to just buy everything, including the grease from your site if you provide a link. Many thanks!

Hi SashaB,
With the small tools such as yours,all you need is to give the gears a light coat of grease. The grease for these tools is generally sold in large tubs or tubes and being you only need about a tablespoon at most you can use something like wheel bearing grease or a general purpose grease.You can find small tubes of general purpose grease at you local auto parts store.But go very easy with the grease as the gears don't need but a light coating on them and in this case a little less is better then too much as if you put too much you'll have grease leaking out of the tool forever.Hope that helps.Good luck.
