    Question Dewalt DW708 Type 2

I wonder if some knowledgeable person can help me out, as Dewalt do not want to help me.

I have a burnt out 240V Dewalt DW708 Type 2 Mitre Saw. I have decided to convert it to run on 110V so I can use it on site. I purchased a 115V field coil and a 110V armature assembly ( I am using the old casing as it seems to be the same on both voltage models). When I took out the old 240V field coil it only had two terminals and the two wires from these went to the switch as expected. When I received the new 110V field coil it has 4 connections two have tick wires and a combination of thin wires from the coils connected to them. I am at a loss as to which terminals to connect my two existing wires too.

Looking at past messages on this site it seems that the thin wires are for an electrical brake . The 240V motor did not have this facility ( hence probably only two terminals). Have I been supplied the wrong field coil or do I only have to connect with the existing two wires and not run it with an electrical brake as per the 240V version?.

If I can run it without the brake which terminals do I connect? Do I connect to both the thick wire terminals or to the one thick and the one thin one? Do I connect diagonally side by side or one above and one below? ( The 240V was connected diagonally, but of course there were only two terminals.... )

If anybody has a 110V Type two motor knocking about or has done the same type of conversion that does not have a electrical brake could they reply as to which terminals the two wires are connected to.

I would be very grateful for any info that will point me in the right direction.

Default Re my question on the DW708

Contrary to the poor service from Dewalt USA, Dewalt GB have come up trumps and supplied me with a wiring diagram and advice on parts so I have had my question answered. Thanks to everyone who read my request but were unable to help. apparently I need a new switch, a length of four core wire and 110V brushes and connect as shown in the diagram........'simples'
