    Angry Delta Model 37-070 Jointer

This jointer is two years old with moderate to light work. The motor now cannot maintain constant spin rate. Runs like a lawn mower with a carb problem. I cleaned it out and no help. Any suggestions?

It's tough to know for sure, but there are a couple of things to look for. At first I thought it might be bearing problems, but since the tool keeps varying its speed, I think it's motor problems. You can start by checking and replacing your carbon motor brushes. If they're worn or damaged it can cause that strange kind of behavior. If they're not the problem, then you might have armature problems.

Because the armature is so expensive, I would start with the brushes to see if that can fix the problem.
