    Question Dewalt cordless drill

Has anybody had problems with cordless drill losing RPM and power.
If so, what was the problem? Was the switch or the transmission or something else?

I have an 18V dewalt cordless drill that little by little start losing speed and power. It is 3 speed so right now I have it on speed 3 and it looks like it would be on speed 1.

    Thank you for any information.

    Jose.

    Default losing power

    Hey jose,
if you are losing rpm's and power..check your brush's first..they could be losing contact by wear..and or the motor itself is going bad..the other culprit could be the switch but it usually has a burnt odor smell...when the transmission starts to go bad it will slip or slow down under load but the motor rpm's will stay the same...
check this website [ereplacementparts.com] for a parts breakdown and price..be sure and match up your type # also
    Hope this helps..

    Thank you Craig,

I replaced the switch already and it did not make any change, so I will check the brushes and the motor as well. Thank you again and I will let you know what the problem is.

    Jose,
your next problem, might be the battery, I don't know how long you might have had the machine, but after a while the battery shows signs of deteriation which is losing power`very fast,or I should say in a shorter space of time,I've actually had the opportunity to give a few words of advice on these, and another culprit is the charging time and over pressuring of the machine during work, the battery should not be left in the charger for longer than 4 hrs.

try using another battery and see if that helps.
