    Default Pressure Washer problems

I have a ridgid pressure washer with robins engine that came in for warranty repair. The customer claimed that it shuts the engine off at times duing operation. I tried it out and the problem was duplicated. I replaced the old pump with a new one and still the same problem. I tried cleaning the carburator thinking that it might have been clogged. But I still think something is wrong with the pump because when the unit is operated from a cold start,as, soon as you pull the trigger on the wand the engine shuts down.

    Default shuts down

    Hey John,
it is strange that the new pump didn't fix the problem..I have worked on a few washers [not ridged] where the machine did the same thing..I had to adjust the pressure setting on the pump itself..[the setting was set to high and actually closed off the pump..find the fitting on the pump that looks like it has some adjustment knob or allen head and adjust in or out until the machine keeps running...try it a little bit at a time...[not sure where it is located on the pump but the factory tech should be able to help]..then you can hook up a pressure gauge tester for the proper setting...
    hope this helps

Engine runs fine! Tried to purge air, but still no water thru pump. Saw video on repair to some pumps, need help to obtain parts for this one.

    Hi mooch1,

Unfortunately, Ridgid does not offer any repair parts for most of their pressure washer pumps. They only offer the pump as an entire assembly. In this case the assembly is part #309515003. I have found that often times pumps won't operate simply because of calcium build up in the pump. A thorough cleaning will fix that problem. If you open the pump and find broken parts then replacing the pump will likely be your only option in this case.

    Good luck,
