    Default Dewalt D55155

I have a D55155 compressor it runs and builds up to pressure fine but when it goes to restart it blow the breaker on motor... If u push cold start valve in and reset breaker it starts back up and builds up to pressure again...if u push cold start valve in before pressure gets down it will restart by itself no problems.... when you start it cold start valve needle pops out right away and stays out unless you push it in....I thought the cold start valve was the problem so I got new one and its still doing same thing
    please help
    Thanks

    Default cold start

    Hey chrismh,
Most likely it is the actual check valve assy..part # 5130344-00..at ereplacementparts.com..[it lets air into the tank but not back out..that's what it is supposed to do] when these go bad they leak air back up into the pump head so when it starts up again it is under pressure and boggs down..once you relieve the pressure it will start ok..
one way to check this is too loosen the cold start valve a little [with air in the tank..!] and see if it leaks air..if the check valve is ok you would be able to completely remove the cold start without air coming out of the tank..
    hope this helps..
