Which number part do you call the "vac adapter" on the diagram:

Are you saying that there is a part that cannot be removed because something is damaged? Or that it is hard to figure out how the part should come off?

On some of the older sanders the adapters were really tight and hard to remove. Did you manage to remove the adapter?

I just got around to reading my private messages. He said (on jan 3):
"It is part #38 that I am having difficulty in removing. The dust collector bag is damaged and in the picture it is showing the collector and the vac-adapter as one part. I was able to twist the dust collector from the vac-adapter, but I can not remove the vac-adapter from the sander".

Interesting. It's not that hard to remove those adapters. They can be tight, but nothing that a good pull wouldn't solve. It makes me think that someone might have glued or epoxied that adapter in place. It's definitely the first I've ever heard of it with those newer dust bags.

On some of the older sanders like the DW421 there was an older style dust collector that used a hard canister. The adapter for the hard canister (#28 on the DW421 diagram) can be really tight and I've seen a lot of people unable to remove that one.

Default DW421 orbital sander - How to remove part 28

Do you have a suggestion of how I might remove this dust collector part #28 from my Dewalt DW421 and not destroy the sander? I'm hesitant about getting too rough.
