    Default 2 stars DeWALT DC987

Most annoying feature of the DeWalt cordless drills is the position of the direction reverse switch. It takes nothing to nudge the switch with the top of your hand and it takes only a slight touch of the switch to get it slightly out of position which locks the speed control button and causes the drill not to turn at all. Can't tell you how many times I have cussed at this drill because of that. An ergonomic design blunder. After only 2 years of normal and infrequent use the drill is dead because of a defective variable speed control switch. A $300 drill should run for 10 years. DeWalt tools used to be better. Now they are relabelled Black and Deckers at a higher price point. Don't get yellow tools because they look cool or because you have other yellow tools and it's a good match. Get a tool that works.

I do have DeWalt tools that are used every day of the week. Some of them are ten years old, and still work. They have been subjected to weather dropped off ladders kick knocked over and probably used as a hammer once or twice. Even with the age and use they still work like the day I bought them. Yes they have draw backs but all brands do. I have used every major brand of tools out there. Yet all my cordless tools are DeWalt. I wasn't joking either when I said they get used everyday of the week. They are the tools I make my living with.
