In the beginning, I thought that DeWalt was the "hard to beat" manufacturer of cordless tools. My experience with using these cordless DeWalt tools has diminished, especially since the other brand manufacturers started introducing cordless tools. My main grievance is the cost of repairs to these tools: I went to a DeWalt service center to buy a new chuck for my DC988 hammer drill. I was presented with a plastic chuck but since my drill chuck was all metal I was offered a replacement price of over $80.00, which was double the cost of the plastic chuck. Since I could purchase the "tool only" for about $100.00 I am having trouble spending any more money on DeWalt tools for fear that they will break down (the drill/driver that is) and there are different manufacturers of drill/drivers that perform.
