Default Casing for Grinder Model DW400

How come the casing for this tool is not listed in the parts list. According to the parts picture it is item #25.
This is the plastic housing.
I feel there is a weak spot in the design of the tool for the locking pin which locks the gear mechanism is located in a thin plastic housing that can not take the strain when untightening the disc retaining nut. It results in a cracked housing.
Apparently, to acquire this part is a problem for it is skipped over in parts list. How come?
Have you noticed this problem arrising with this tool?
Other than this canundrum, I've found this tool just what I needed at the time. It can make what otherwise would be a bear of a job into a pussy cat.
Where can I proceed from here?
Please respond to my email address; ab_handycraft@hotmail.com
Thank you. Al Barnes

Hi Al,
Are you referring to Type 1 or Type 2? It appears that on both, the plastic casing is no longer available for either one from DeWALT. We checked a few other places too - and did not have any luck. You may want to check some used outlets and place your post in a more prominent place on this forum, such as: Parts Ordering Help, or the General Power Tool Discussion
Good Luck!
Lisa

Default Must we join Wordpress to comment on the blog?

It appears to me that a user must join Wordpress to be able to comment on the blog. I don't see any provision for "outsiders" to leave a comment.

My comment on the dremel tool article is that I wish I could either find small wire brushes for such tools that would last more than 10 seconds or find a way to buy the existing type of brushes in quantity and cheaply.

Right now you do have to be a member of the blog to post a comment. Like so many other hurdles on the internet, this is to avoid spam. The comments would be completely overwhelmed in just a few hours. It's a shame, really.

But we are working on a system which will allow you to use your eReplacementParts.com login for the forum, the blog, and the parts website instead of having separate logins for each. This makes a lot more sense. It'll be a while before this is working, but it's part of the plan.
